Walk down the water filter aisle and you'll see a sea of plastic. Every pitcher is a plastic tub with a plastic cartridge inside, and the water you have just filtered sits in it for hours, sometimes days. “BPA-free” on the label doesn't mean plastic-free. It usually means a different bisphenol.
By then I had spent years building euroguard, our stainless-steel filtration brand, and putting its filters through the labs that matter. I knew what good filtration looked like from the media up. The more I learned about what a filter takes out of water, the less sense it made to store the result in the one material everyone was trying to avoid.
So I stopped asking how to filter better. The industry has plenty of answers for that. I asked a simpler question instead: what would a water pitcher look like if it belonged on the table, next to the bread and the wine, and never had to go back in the fridge to hide?
Taking plastic out of the pitcher was the easy decision. High-borosilicate glass for the body. 304 stainless steel for the funnel. A hand-finished walnut lid. Food-grade silicone where a seal is unavoidable. Nothing else.
The cartridge was another matter. Every pitcher filter on the market lives inside a plastic shell, because that is how the industry has always made them. It took more than a year of R&D to engineer plastic out of the cartridge endcaps itself, and to build a carbon block that flows fast enough for a gravity pitcher without giving up what it removes. We call that GravityPlus™. The cartridge clicks into place in two seconds. No screwing, no leaks. The design patents are secured; the utility patents are pending.
