A note from our founder

Does your water pitcher stay on the table during dinner, or go back in the fridge?

That question is the reason Duryn exists. Here is how a glass pitcher took more than a year in the lab, and why 5,000 families were willing to wait for it.

Why I built Duryn

Sustainability shouldn't look like a compromise. It should look like an upgrade.

Walk down the water filter aisle and you'll see a sea of plastic. Every pitcher is a plastic tub with a plastic cartridge inside, and the water you have just filtered sits in it for hours, sometimes days. “BPA-free” on the label doesn't mean plastic-free. It usually means a different bisphenol.

By then I had spent years building euroguard, our stainless-steel filtration brand, and putting its filters through the labs that matter. I knew what good filtration looked like from the media up. The more I learned about what a filter takes out of water, the less sense it made to store the result in the one material everyone was trying to avoid.

So I stopped asking how to filter better. The industry has plenty of answers for that. I asked a simpler question instead: what would a water pitcher look like if it belonged on the table, next to the bread and the wine, and never had to go back in the fridge to hide?

The hardest part was the cartridge

Duryn One replacement cartridges

Taking plastic out of the pitcher was the easy decision. High-borosilicate glass for the body. 304 stainless steel for the funnel. A hand-finished walnut lid. Food-grade silicone where a seal is unavoidable. Nothing else.

The cartridge was another matter. Every pitcher filter on the market lives inside a plastic shell, because that is how the industry has always made them. It took more than a year of R&D to engineer plastic out of the cartridge endcaps itself, and to build a carbon block that flows fast enough for a gravity pitcher without giving up what it removes. We call that GravityPlus™. The cartridge clicks into place in two seconds. No screwing, no leaks. The design patents are secured; the utility patents are pending.

IAPMO and Eurofins tested the filter using recognized protocols covering chlorine, material safety and a broad range of contaminants. Current certifications, claims and available documents are kept on our Lab Results page. Cartridge life and available options are listed on the current product page.

High-borosilicate glass

The same class of glass as laboratory and premium kitchenware. Inert, so water stays water.

304 stainless steel

The funnel and the hardware. Corrosion-resistant, and it never adds anything to what it holds.

Walnut

The lid, finished by hand. It is the reason the pitcher belongs on a table.

Food-grade silicone

Only where a seal is unavoidable. That is the whole list.

Zero plastic means nothing your water touches is plastic: glass, steel, walnut and silicone. Full cartridge material details are available on the current product page.

Sold out

the first drop, in full

Duryn didn't launch with a warehouse of stock and a media budget. It launched with a waitlist of people who wanted the same thing I did, and 502 of them trusted us enough to pay a deposit on a pitcher they had only seen in renders. The first drop sold out. The next is on its way.

What you can hold us to

  • Best in class filtration with Duryn. Glass, steel, walnut, silicone. Nothing more.

  • Independent laboratories test the claims we make. See the available results.

  • One cartridge every three months, not every month.

  • Built for a lifetime of use, not a season.

  • If it isn't for you, send it back under the current returns policy.
